Looking for a new twist on an old comfort food favorite? Want to make something for dinner everyone in the family will enjoy? Try out loaded hashbrowns! I love that it’s a quick dinner solution, and my family loves that they can mix & match to make it their own.
There are so many options for your loaded hashbrowns! Start with the base – the hashbrowns. I usually just use a couple of bags of the frozen variety, but you could shred your own or use rehydrated freeze dried potatoes. I use a generous amount of butter and bacon grease in the bottom of my electric frying pan and get it pretty hot before adding in the potatoes. Then I put the lid on so that they get crispy on the bottom while cooking all the way through. Flip them a few times throughout until they’re browned.
Then let your imagination flow!

Some of our favorite toppings include:
- Bacon
- Shredded cheese
- Sausage gravy
- Scrambled eggs
- Fresh veggies i.e. onions, peppers, tomatoes, jalapenos
- Condiments i.e. ketchup, barbecue sauce, hot sauce
I think other fun additions could be sour cream, queso, salsa – the possibilities are endless.
